Exactly two weeks ago we introduced a new series of blog posts where we'd be introducing the actors and actresses behind the characters. We started off with Katherine McNamara, who plays Clary Fray in the Shadowhunters series. Now, we probably all know there isn't just a series, but there was also a movie. So this time, we thought it would be nothing but fitting to focus on the person who played Clary Fray in the movie The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones!
And that person would be Lily Collins! The dark haired, young actress was the first person to give a face to the character in 2013.
Playing Clary Fray hasn't been the only role she's played. Her acting career started when she got a role in the very famous and intriguing movie The Blind Side, where she got to star among Sandra Bullock and Kathy Bates. Playing in this movie really got her career to have a jump start, as not much later she got to star in several movies with several big names as well.
Lily hasn't only appeared in movies, she's also made a guest appearance on 90210 in 2009, and had a main role in The Last Tycoon and Les Misérables. She only managed to play a part in the music video of City of Angels, by Thirty Second to Mars, and played an alien girl in M83's Claudia Lewis.
Lily as a person
Lily Collins was born to English musician Phil Collins and his second wife, Jill Tavelman, who's an American. After her parents divorced when Lily was seven years old, she moved to Los Angeles with her mother. She graduated from Harvard-Westlake School and attended the University of Southern California, majoring in broadcast journalism. She was also presented a debutante at at the Bal des débutantes in Paris in 2007. One of the most personal things she's shared with the public is that she suffered from an eating disorder, which was revealed in her book Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me. She's also an outspoken anti-bullying advocate and is serving as a Celebrity Ambassador to anti-bullying organization Bystander Revolution.
Lily stated in 2013 that she does not like to discuss the interest in her relationships publicly due to witnessing the difficulties caused by the media coverage of her parents' divorce.
Thank you for reading this blog! In two weeks we will be back with The person behind the Character, focusing Dominic Sherwood, who portrays Jace WaylandMorgenstern Herondale!
